New Staff Housing at Nagum Set for Use After Dedication

06 Jul 2025

New staff housing at Nagum Adventist Secondary School in East Sepik was formally dedicated in prayer today, ahead of its use by school personnel.

The ceremony was conducted by officials from the Sepik Mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church and witnessed by teachers, students and mission leaders.

Sepik Mission President Pastor Henry Monape, Secretary Pastor Jeffrey Saigomi, and Education Director Mr Lancedown Wirise were present, along with school principal Mr Bruce Magiar, deputy principal Mr Bernard Seneki, and the full staff and student body.

Mr Seneki welcomed the mission team, after which Pastor Saigomi opened the program with prayer. In his address, Mr Wirise urged staff to treat the new facility with spiritual responsibility. “Everything that happens in and around this house must give glory to God,” he said. “If it is misused, there will be consequences.”

Pastor Monape commended the administration for their leadership and acknowledged Mr Nickson Berak and his team for overseeing the construction. He then offered a prayer of dedication, asking for God’s blessing over the home and those who will live in it.

A ribbon-cutting followed at 1:12pm, carried out by Pastor Monape, Mr Wirise and Mr Magiar. Guests were invited to view the interior, which includes three bedrooms, a kitchen-living area, and an indoor bathroom and toilet.

The houses were funded by the Yangoru-Saussia District Development Authority at a cost of K1 million and were officially opened earlier this year by local MP Hon. Richard Maru.

Today’s ceremony marked the spiritual commissioning of the facility, which is expected to ease accommodation challenges and support quality education delivery at the school.
